The Fransaskois Flag

The Fransaskois flag is rectangular in shape and has a gold background that represents the wheat fields of Saskatchewan which was the prime occupation of the first Francophone settlers. The flag is adorned with a green cross, representing the role of the Catholic Church in Fransaskois history and culture, the green represents the northern forests. A red stylized fleur de lys represents the French langauge and francophone culture.

In 2005, the Provincial Government adopted the Fransaskois Flag as a provincial emblem recognizing the status of French as one of Canada's official languages.  The Province of Saskatchewan acknowledged the heritage of Saskatchewan's Francophones and their significant contributions to the development of the province.
